Learning to take inspiration from the things around me...

What a good day! I took inspiration for this Layout from a Splitcoast Challenge SBVC58. We were to select a "Wacky Holiday" as inspiration. I picked "Inspire Your Heart With Art" Day. My Mom loved to paint. Short of a few classes at the local craft stores, she never had any training. She had natural, underdeveloped talent. I remember her "talks" about shading, perspective and colors. At the time, it went in one ear and out the other because I can't draw a straight line with a ruler. The more I get involved with papercrafting, these tidbits of information are surfacing from the recesses of my mind. I had these photographs of a few of her paintings. I thought it fit perfectly with the challenge. As the title of this post implies, I am trying look at the world around me for card and LO ideas. I charged forth with this project today and took inspiration as the Eagles marched on to victory! Off to make a card...For Now, Happy Crafting!

I love how you did the ribbon around the key. Cute use of this new CTMH stamp and paper set.

Yes, mothers do know best, don't they? ;) How wonderful that she painted, and your page pays homage to her beautiful work. What a great layout! The embellishments are perfect, the key adds a nice sense of heritage. I think you follow right along in her footsteps whether you realize it or not. :D
